I do think it can offer a solution in the long-term — in evolutionary time — and that Rorty (as a sort of pragmatist) would be happy with that. But what about ethical time? The time of a single lifespan?

What comfort can we take, here on Hegel’s slaughter bench of history, from the fact that the cosmos is moving toward increasingly successful predictions? Whose faith — whose denial of self — is that strong? I wish mine were but it is not. I cannot accept. I must act. But how, and on what basis?
